Alicia Gaiero Named to Mainebiz's 2023 40 Under 40!

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news: our very own Alicia Gaiero, founder and captain of Nauti Sisters Sea Farm, has been honored as one of Mainebiz's 2023 NextUp: 40 Under 40 awardees!

This recognition celebrates young leaders who are making significant contributions to Maine's business landscape, and Alicia's inclusion is a testament to her dedication, innovation, and leadership in the aquaculture industry.

Leading with Purpose

At just 25, Alicia has not only established a thriving oyster farm but also launched East Coast Aquaculture Consulting, aiming to support and empower other aquaculture ventures. Her journey began during her senior year at the University of Maine at Farmington, where she decided to take the bold step of starting her own farm. Since then, she's been committed to sustainable practices and fostering a supportive environment for women in the industry.

In her own words, Alicia shares:

“The oysters are really just the byproduct. What we’re building is strong, capable people. Through our workforce development partnerships and internships, I get to work with young people who want to try something new, challenge themselves, and connect to the water in a real way. That’s what drives me."

Passion Beyond the Farm

Alicia's ambitions don't stop at the shoreline. She's passionate about global exploration, aiming to travel to every continent and achieve fluency in Spanish. An adventurer at heart, one of her audacious goals is to hike to Mount Everest base camp. When she's not on the water, Alicia finds joy in spending time with family and friends, often singing loudly with her sisters to favorites like “Piano Man” and “Rhinestone Cowboy.”
