Nauti Sisters Sea Farm founder Alicia Gaiero has been named to MaineBiz’s 40 Under 40 — an annual recognition of young leaders making significant contributions to Maine’s business community. We are incredibly proud of this honor and what it represents for the farm and the people behind it.
What the Recognition Reflects
Alicia founded Nauti Sisters Sea Farm in 2020. She started with a handful of oyster cages and a vision for what a women-owned Maine oyster farm could look like — not just as an aquaculture operation, but as a place for learning, leadership, and connection to the working waterfront.
Since then the business has grown into a farm and ecotourism company featured in the New York Times, National Geographic Traveller, and NPR’s Morning Edition. Alicia has also launched East Coast Aquaculture Consulting to support other aquaculture ventures across the region.
In Her Own Words
Alicia has spoken publicly about what drives the work. The oysters matter, but they are not the whole point. The deeper mission is building capable people and creating opportunities — especially for women and young people — in Maine’s marine industries.
That mission shows up in the farm’s workforce development partnerships, its internship program, and the experiences it offers guests on Casco Bay every season.
What’s Next
Being recognized by MaineBiz is meaningful. But Alicia is already focused on what comes next — growing the farm, expanding the tour program, and continuing to shape Maine’s aquaculture future through her board work with the Maine Aquaculture Association and the Maine Aquaculture Innovation Center.
