Meet the Team!
Founded by Alicia in 2020, the farm began with just a handful of oyster cages and a dream: grow incredible oysters, share them with our community, and create immersive, educational experiences right on the water.
In 2023, Alicia’s sister Amy joined the adventure as farm manager and co-captain of our tours. Together, they transformed a small farm into something more—a floating classroom, a tasting bar, and a place for connection to Maine’s working waterfront.
Chelsea, the youngest of the three sisters, brings her own wide-ranging experience. From hauling gear on the oyster barge to working on a lobster boat and a mussel farm, Chelsea is the kind of person who jumps into whatever role the ocean calls for. Her hands-on knowledge across Maine’s fisheries makes her an anchor of the operation.
As Alicia often says, “Oysters are just the byproduct. What we’re really growing here is good, strong people.” Over the years, the farm has evolved into a place of learning, leadership, and growth. We've worked closely with workforce development programs such as Minorities in Aquaculture, FocusMaine’s Aquaculture Pioneers, and hosted interns from the University of Southern Maine, Stanford University, and the University of Maine. Whether it's shucking oysters or shaping careers, we’re proud to help the next generation dive into aquaculture.
From sunrise harvests to oyster tastings at sea, every part of what we do is hands-on, heartfelt, and powered by a mission to make aquaculture more accessible, exciting, and empowering—especially for women and young people in marine fields.
Whether you're here for the oysters, the stories, or the thrill of pulling up a lobster trap, you're not just visiting a farm—you’re stepping into our story.
And that story is catching on. Over the past few years, Nauti Sisters has been featured by NPR’s Morning Edition, National Geographic Traveller (UK), InsideHook, Maine Magazine, and on the TV show Only in Portland, Maine (Very Local). Alicia has also spoken on national panels, podcasts, and been recognized as a MaineBiz 40 Under 40 honoree for her leadership in aquaculture.

Meet Alicia
Alicia Gaiero was raised in Belfast, Maine, and is the oldest of three sisters. Some of her favorite things include skiing, traveling, and supporting the growth of Maine’s aquaculture industry. She took a leap of faith in 2020, starting the farm with just a few oyster cages, big dreams, and very little experience. Since then, it’s grown into something much more—a hands-on oyster farm and ecotourism company that connects people to the working waterfront.

Meet Amy
Amy Gaiero graduated from the University of Iowa, where she was a Division I field hockey player, a Big Ten Champion, and a student of Sustainability Science. She loves skiing, getting outside, and spending time on the water. After time away, she returned to Maine to join her sisters in earning her U.S. Coast Guard Captains License and serves as the manager at Nauti Sisters Sea Farm, helping grow oysters, and the family business—on the coast she’s always called home.

Meet Chelsea
Chelsea Gaiero graduated from Kent’s Hill School and is currently studying chemical engineering and oceanography at Northeastern University. As part of the Global Scholars Program, she’s lived and studied in Oakland, London, and Boston. She brings a wide range of on-the-water experience—from working as a sternman on a lobster boat to grinding away on a mussel farm to helping grow Nauti Sisters Sea Farm. She’s also pursued her captain’s license, and we’re always excited for any chance to have Chelsea back on the water with us.
